_Great Barrier Island is situated in the Outer Hauraki Gulf just 90km off
the North East coast of Auckland, New Zealand. It boasts golden
beaches, unspoilt forests and amazing views.
The island is 40km long and provides protection for the Gulf and Auckland from the Easterly Pacific Swells, hence the name, Great Barrier. The population is around 600.

Getting to Great Barrier Island

By Air A scenic 30 minute flight from Auckland takes you to Great Barrier Island airfield which is a 10 minute drive from Lazy Dayz Holiday Home. Flights can be taken from Auckland Airport through Fly My Sky or the North Shore with Great Barrier Airlines. By Sea Sealink run regular ferries to the island from Wynyard Wharf, Auckland. The journey takes four and a half hours aboard the Island Navigator. Fullers run ferries from the Ferry Terminal at Ferry 99 Quay St, Auckland.
